Snell Motors

In the first few months, Snell Motors' monthly sales increased from 60 to 80 vehicles per month to 150-200 vehicles per month. The dealership now carries Cadillac, Buick, GMC, and Pontiac vehicles, and only two GM dealerships sell more Buicks in the area. Snell Motors' new facility was designed by Paulsen Architects and was incorporated into the new facility by Snell's wife. While GM initially fought Snell's design, they eventually agreed to include it in their new national dealership program.

Snell Motors' name stems from Don Snell, who acquired his former partner in 1978. Before he took over the business, Snell Motors was scattered all over the area. The showroom was located at 1215 North Front, a body shop was located near the Honda location, and a used car lot was next to a Holiday gas station. Snell Motors merged its operations in 1981 and purchased land near the downtown mall. It was a huge success, with annual revenues of $1.5 million.
